Meet Ninanki

In line with the age-old principle that “movement is health” we would like to introduce seven basic patterns of movement using seven animals.

Llama

Llama

Gait pattern

Gait is a basic motor pattern achieved by a child at around 1 year of age.

Kangaroo

Kangaroo

Squat pattern

This is a natural way of bending the hip, knee and ankle joints in order to lower the body position.

Cat

Cat

Trunk flexion pattern

This is a movement in which there is controlled flexion in the lumbar-thoracic spine and hips.

Bear

Bear

Rowing pattern

This is a movement that brings a weight or body closer to oneself – e.g. pull-ups, rowing. It mainly engages the back and arm muscles.

Tiger

Tiger

Push pattern

This is a movement of moving a weight or body away from oneself – e.g. push-ups, bench presses. It engages the chest, shoulder and triceps muscles.

Panther

Panther

Rotation pattern

This is twisting the torso around the spine – a natural movement in walking, throwing or reaching behind oneself.

Lion

Lion

Straightening back pattern

This involves actively straightening the hips and spine, i.e. the movement of ‘straightening up’ from a bent or squatting position.
